the second life
pop-up, movable, recyclable museum store and more

the project aspires to breathe new, second life into a vacant 900 sqm ground floor space of a vacant office building, located at a prime spot in Central Business District of Bangkok & in close proximity to Bangkok’s most-cherished public park. the pop-up store includes retail space for a prominent New York-based Museum of Art; museum cafe; large, flexible public space for events, exhibitions, installations and family-oriented educational workshops.

a majority of the furniture units are movable to facilitate various, ephemeral spatial arrangements & functions; all built of typical steel scaffolding components and wooden shipping pallets. the furniture units will be dismantled, adopted and go on to live their second life (in some case third) at other venues after the brief life of this cheap & cheery temporary facility, minimizing both project cost and construction waste, marking a choreographed closure of the operation.
